🌟 Congratulations James Gould! 🌟
A shout out for last month’s Star Award winner, James Gould! James was nominated by Sabeena for the mentoring, guidance and patience he has shown during her first few months with Boast Architects. Starting somewhere new can be a big step, and James has taken the time to support, explain and encourage, helping Sabeena settle into the team with confidence. Our Star Award is all about recognising those everyday moments that make a real difference - whether that’s going above and beyond, supporting a colleague, sharing knowledge, or helping to create the positive and collaborative culture we value across the practice. Congratulations James - a very well-deserved recognition, and thank you for being such a great example of teamwork and support. 👏 #BoastArchitects #StarAward #TeamRecognition #Mentoring #Teamwork #Collaboration #StaffRecognition #Architecture #ProudTeam #GoingAboveAndBeyond
Celebrating Success at Herts Beds CE Club Awards
What a fantastic time our team had at last month's Herts & Beds Constructing Excellence Club Awards - a brilliant event full of energy, conversation and connection across our local construction community. It was especially memorable for us as both Boast Architects and RDT Architects were recognised on the day, with Boast winning the Innovation Award for robotic bricklaying on a live project in association with JT Lifestyle Homes, and RDT Architects winning Residential Project of the Year for the new Harpenden Springs Care Home for Oakland Care. We were also really pleased to have our clients with us to share in the celebrations. These achievements are a real reflection of collaboration, innovation and the strong partnerships behind every successful project. A huge thank you to the Herts & Beds Constructing Excellence Club for hosting such an enjoyable and well-attended event, and congratulations to all the winners, finalists and teams involved. A great day celebrating the very best of our industry and a reminder of what can be achieved when clients, consultants, contractors and project teams come together. #ConstructingExcellence #HertsAndBedsCEClub #RDTArchitects #Boast #Awards #ConstructionIndustry #InnovationInConstruction #ResidentialDesign #HarpendenSprings #Collaboration
Six-Monthly Review: Bringing the Teams Together
It was fantastic to bring the Boast Architects and RDT Architects teams together at our new Morton House offices for our six-monthly review. The morning gave us a valuable opportunity to pause, reflect and celebrate what has been achieved over the last six months, with presentations from our planning and construction teams highlighting key projects, progress, lessons learned and the continued collaboration across both practices. We also looked ahead to the rest of the year, sharing priorities, opportunities and ambitions as we continue to grow, strengthen our combined expertise and deliver great results for our clients. Most importantly, it was a brilliant chance to spend time together as one team, reconnect in person and enjoy lunch together after a busy and productive morning. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the presentations and discussions and here’s to an exciting second half of the year. #BoastArchitects #RDTArchitects #Teamwork #Collaboration #Architecture #Planning #Construction #TeamCulture #SixMonthlyReview #LookingAhead #Honey
Work Experience Spotlight: Albert’s Summerhouse Design
We were delighted to welcome Albert from Sherrardswood School for work experience, where he had the opportunity to explore the architectural design process through his own summerhouse concept. During his time with us, Albert researched, planned and developed a design for an outbuilding in his garden - a 5m x 6m summerhouse with a Mediterranean influence, designed as a relaxed family space for both indoor and outdoor living. His concept included a kitchen area, a cosy layout, and a pergola designed to encourage plant growth and create a stronger connection with the garden. As part of the process, Albert considered style, materials, practicality and the constraints that influence how ideas develop into buildable designs. He also gained experience using design software and benefited from professional feedback, helping him refine his scheme and understand more about the role of an architect. It was great to see Albert’s confidence and creativity grow throughout the week, and we wish him every success as he continues to explore his interest in architecture and design. #WorkExperience #Architecture #ArchitecturalDesign #FutureTalent #DesignProcess #StudentExperience #RDTArchitects #CareersInArchitecture
Herts & Beds CE Club Visit to Hertfordshire Constabulary HQ
Today the team from Boast Architects and RDT Architects had the opportunity to attend the Herts & Beds Constructing Excellence Club event at the new Hertfordshire Constabulary HQ in Welwyn Garden City, held in association with RIBA East Region. A huge thank you to Stephen Chown at Vincent + Gorbing for organising such an insightful event, and to Willmott Dixon for giving us a guided tour of this extraordinary building as it approaches practical completion. It was a valuable chance to experience the building before occupation, and to see first-hand the quality of the design, the impressive facilities and the careful thinking that has gone into creating a modern, functional and future-focused headquarters for Hertfordshire Constabulary. Events like this are a brilliant reminder of the value of collaboration across our industry, bringing architects, contractors, consultants and construction professionals together to share knowledge and learn from live projects. #RDTArchitects #BoastArchitects #ConstructingExcellence #RIBAEast #HertsBedsCEClub #HertfordshireConstabulary #Architecture #Construction #Collaboration #DesignExcellence
Getting to Know the Details at Highcroft, Wallingford
Boast Architects attended site at Highcroft in Wallingford for a walk around with our client, St. Joseph Homes, as this 100-unit residential development continues to progress. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to spend time on site, review the emerging development, and gain a deeper understanding of the house types in more detail. These site visits play an important role in supporting the technical design process, helping ensure that the next phase of homes is developed with a clear appreciation of the built context and construction requirements. Collaborative working with the client at this stage is key, allowing the design team to gather practical insight, ask questions, and feed that knowledge into the next stage of delivery. We look forward to seeing the scheme continue to take shape. #BoastArchitects #Highcroft #Wallingford #StJosephHomes #ResidentialDevelopment #HousingDesign #TechnicalDesign #Architecture #Construction #SiteVisit #NewHomes
A Rooftop Visit with OneYMCA
Richard and Marion were delighted to visit One YMCA's new Peartree House in Welwyn Garden City. A fantastic new 100 unit housing scheme, helping to create a safe and positive environment for those who need accommodation and support within the local community. The visit came about through a shared passion for beekeeping, with One YMCA asking Richard to come along and offer advice on their beehives located on the roof of the new building. Despite the less-than-perfect weather, it was a great opportunity to see the hives up close, talk through the next steps, and share practical knowledge and ideas. Richard was more than happy to help and enjoyed speaking with Heidi Cuffaro at OneYMCA about looking after the bees, including plans for a further hive and future honey collection. It was a lovely example of how community connections can grow in unexpected ways - bringing together housing, wellbeing, sustainability and a little rooftop nature. A big thank you to One YMCA for inviting us to visit Peartree House and for continuing to create positive, supportive spaces for people in our local community. We look forward to keeping in touch and seeing the rooftop bees thrive. #OneYMCA #PeartreeHouse #Community #Housing #SupportedHousing #Beekeeping #Sustainability #SocialValue #LocalCommunity #RooftopBees #HertsBeds #RDTArchitects #Collaboration #WelwynGardenCity
