We’re delighted to announce a major step forward in one of our current projects—planning permission has been granted for an innovative barn conversion in Hertfordshire! 🏡 This journey so far has been a true collaboration, working closely with our client, planning consultant Paul Atton at Weldon Beesly LLP, and energy assessor TwoEighty Consulting. Together, we’re changing an agricultural barn, adjacent to a listed farmhouse, into a stunning single dwelling and three commercial units paired seamlessly on the opposite sides of the structure. Challenge: Transforming an old agricultural barn into a modern, functional space while preserving its historical essence and meeting stringent planning regulations. Solution: Through innovative design and meticulous planning, we’ve crafted a solution that balances heritage and modernity. Our commitment to sustainability is at the heart of this project, ensuring every decision respects the environment. From energy-efficient systems to sustainable materials, we’ve integrated eco-friendly practices throughout the design. This is more than just a barn conversion—it’s a vision brought to life, where architecture meets innovation, and heritage meets environmental responsibility. We can’t wait to share more as the journey unfolds!

We’re thrilled to announce that Boast Architects will be relocating to a new office! 🎉 📍 From Monday 24th March, you’ll find us at the Business & Technology Centre in Stevenage—a vibrant hub of local businesses that we’re excited to be part of! To make the move as smooth as possible, there may be some temporary disruptions to our phone lines and emails from Thursday 20th March. We appreciate your patience and support as we settle in! Looking forward to welcoming you to our new space soon!

Earlier this week, the Boast Architects team had the fantastic opportunity to join our colleagues at RDT Architects for an exclusive factory tour and hands-on welding experience at Altro! From exploring the cutting-edge manufacturing processes to getting stuck in with some practical welding, it was an insightful and immersive experience that deepened our appreciation for the craftsmanship behind Altro’s high-quality products. A huge thank you to Altro Limited for their warm hospitality, expert guidance, and the chance to see (and feel!) the innovation that goes into their materials. We always value opportunities to learn, collaborate, and strengthen industry connections.

Last week, Matt Moore and Richard Tavener headed up north to visit our exciting project in Thornley, Durham. It was a fantastic opportunity to see the progress being made on-site and catch up with the team to discuss upcoming milestones and challenges. One of the highlights of the visit was reviewing the next phase of construction—especially as we prepare for the arrival of the robot, which will be on-site in the coming weeks to begin building. This marks a major step forward, and we can’t wait to see the innovation in action! Stay tuned for more updates as the project continues to take shape. 🚀

We are thrilled to share a photo of one of our most exciting transformation projects to date at Boast Architects! Appointed to lead the project through RIBA Workstage 4 and secure building control approval, we saw an opportunity to elevate the design even further. We successfully incorporated all desired rooms while ensuring a functional layout, especially for the client's growing daughters, and future-proofing the design with a versatile snug and a bedroom ready for a future ensuite. If you’re dreaming of a design that solves your challenges and unlocks your property’s full potential, let’s make it happen!
