This development was a conversion of an agricultural barn into three 3 bedroom dwellings under Class Q Permitted Development. Boast Architects applied for detailed planning approval to improve the design of the building, create external driveways and parking areas, and add private gardens.
Construction was in Structural Insulated Panel (SIP) with vertical standing seam zinc cladding wrapping around the entire structure to respond to the agricultural context of adjacent existing farm buildings. Zinc cladding is also used on the gable ends but with contrasting horizontal detailing. Feature strip windows and eaves windows add a sympathetic contemporary feel to the overall design concept.
Boast Architects were appointed for all stages of the project from the initial conceptual design, through Planning and Building Regulations submissions to the Tender Process. We remained involved during the construction phase through to completion and acted as Contract Administrator for the JCT Minor Works Contract.
