Landmark Site, Stevenage

Outline Planning Permission was granted on 13th August 2019 for 137,500ft² of offices, 88 apartments and decked car parking on a 2.9 acre landmark site in Stevenage’s Employment Zone.
The design was evolved following close consultation with planning and conservation officers to create a significant landmark building at one of the main gateways to the town centre. This was one of the planning authority’s main objectives in determining the site’s development potential.
Boast Architects produced comprehensive design proposals, including illustrative elevations and 3D images, to show that the character and setting of a 17th Century Grade II Listed farmhouse in the centre of the site will be safeguarded.
Although the proposed office building is deliberately tall in order to make a strong architectural statement at the junction of the two main highway frontages, the development reduces in height towards the farmhouse and mature trees on the boundary will ensure a more gradual and sensitive transition between the neighbouring buildings.
